History: Katsura was born the second child to a small family in Silvermoon, the capital city of the high elven nation of Quel'Thalas. As a youth she wandered the glades of its forests and learned much of the lore of the Hunter, a type of ranger. As her father was a mage with diplomatic ties to Dalaran, home of the powerful Kirin Tor wizards, she often found herself accompanying him after her sixtieth year as a bodyguard of sorts. It was here that she met the young mage who would later become the Forsaken warlock named Blackword, a partner in many of her future adventures.

During the time of the First War, the high elves were reluctant to aid the humans against the orcish Horde, and despite her father's pleas, they remained out of the Alliance. However, they reconsidered before the beginning of the Second War, due to an attack on a ranger regiment in Tarren Mill. Between the coercion of the dwarven king, the wizards of Dalaran, and her father's impassioned pleas, Anasterian Sunstrider relented and the high elves joined the Alliance. After all, was not Sunstrider's own son, Kael'thas, a student in Dalaran?

Katsura was ordered to return to Quel'thalas to help reinforce the ranger corps there, and reluctantly complied. The official news of her father's death came at about the same time as a letter of sympathy from Blackword. Her mother was crushed, her younger brother didn't quite understand, and took refuge in the priesthood of the Light. Katsura attempted to sign up and officially join Sylvanas Windrunner's Ranger corps, but after an argument with her mother, relented and did not. She was, however, manning the walls when the orcs attempted to raze Silvermoon and was integral in their failure.

Nearly fifteen years later saw the rise of the undead Scourge lead by Arthas, the Lich King. In a successful attempt to resurrect the fallen necromancer, Kel'Thuzad, he lead his army of ghouls through the countryside of Quel'Thalas, despite the best efforts of the Ranger-General and the rest of Silvermoon's armies. The fount of high elven magic, the Sunwell, was destroyed and over half the city was laid to waste. Many elves were slain, including Katsura's mother and brother, and she herself was wounded, but other survivors helped her to a refuge while Quel'thalas burned.

It took Katsura some time to recover. Kael'thas returned from Dalaran and rallied his people, renaming them Blood Elves in honor of those fallen during the Scourge onslaught and teaching his people how to survive despite the Sunwell's tainting. During that time Katsura found that her friend the mage had actually survived the destruction of Dalaran, though not as she knew him. Eschewing his old name when he died and was reborn as one of the undead Forsaken, he needed to become accustomed to his body and fel warlock abilities. They decided a mutually beneficial relationship was in order and began adventuring together. The first order of business was taking revenge on what Scourge forces remained in the Ghostlands and killing the traitorous blood elf, Dar'khan Drathir. With that success, the Blood Elves were allowed into the Horde. Katsura and Blackword cut a swath through Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms, eventually reaching Outland. It was then that the guild they had joined together, Empire, tasked them with plumbing the depths of Karazhan, the mysterious tower of the Last Guardian, Medivh.

Finding it demon-infested, the comrades spent quite some time clearing it of the curse within. By that time the rumors of Scourge ravaging the countryside were increasing, until it was clear that the rumors were not merely that. Crystals that summoned undead were appearing across Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms, and it seemed that the return of the Lich King was imminent. Katsura and Blackword had joined forces with the Argent Dawn, who were mustering an army to go to Northrend. They rewarded heroes for vanquishing the invading Scourge as well, though Katsura really needed no reward to have her revenge on the creatures that decimated her family.

It took nearly three long years, but Katsura adventured her way through Northrend with Blackword, and occasional help from two other paladins from Empire, Maridian and Neris. She was amongst the number chosen to infiltrate Icecrown Citadel, the seat of the Lich King. Sadly, she was unable to accompany them in the final battle with Arthas due to a brief, but serious illness. She made a complete recovery, however, and consoled herself by helping to wipe out a number of Scourge who remained in the Plaguelands.

Strange elemental rifts were appearing throughout Azeroth and Outlands, and the Warchief of the Horde, Thrall, tasked adventurers to aid the Earthen Ring in finding out the cause. Katsura was one of the ones who discovered that it was Cho'Gall, an ogre magus, under the direction of the Old Gods and the corrupted Dragon Aspect of Earth, capturing and sending elementals to ravage the lands. She foiled the plans of his operatives in Orgrimmar, but had no idea that the scope was wider than even she could imagine. So great was the danger that Thrall stepped down from his position as Warchief, naming the hotheaded Garrosh Hellscream in his place. This move made Katsura rather disgruntled, as she did not have fond memories of Garrosh from Outland or Northrend and chafed at the order to "obey Garrosh as she would Thrall".

And then, Deathwing broke through the Maelstrom from Deepholm, the Elemental Plane of Earth.

In the wake of the Shattering, Katsura explored the new lands exposed by the destruction. During an expedition where she returned to Vash'jir, the underwater city, she followed an orc legionnaire through the Abyssal Maw where she thought she was going to end up in Neptulon's realm...and found herself in the world of Witches' Reign instead.

Abilities & Physical Abnormalities:

-As a result of absorbing fel energies, Katsura's eyes glow green.

-She's about 5'7, 140 lbs without her armor. Kat wears mail and prefers a bow whenever possible, though she knows how to arm and fire crossbows and other firearms like pistols and rifles.

-Katsura has access to a number of pets she has tamed and trained herself, though larger ones like her black Devilsaur, Walky, will effectively become a GF.

-A hunter has the ability to use stings to provide certain status debuffs on an enemy--the most common, Serpent Sting, will poison an enemy, while Cobra Shot will lengthen the duration. Other hunter abilities are listed here. Please do not hesitate to poke me if you need more information, as World of Warcraft is difficult to navigate even for someone who's familiar with the game!

Personality: Katsura has had to learn to be tough--a delicately feminine elven flower would have died in the siege of Silvermoon. The knowledge that her mother and brother did is a scar that hasn't quite healed, as can be shown by the fact that she barely, if ever speaks of it, or much of her past at all, even if asked. She isn't beyond joking, having fun, or being playful, but business is business and fun is separate. Through her long association with the members of Empire and her exploration of Azeroth, Katsura isn't quite as racist as some other Blood Elves. She'd be hard pressed to hide her distaste for trolls, her people's ancient enemy, and she isn't very friendly at first to humans, as they left her people high and dry at their time of greatest need. Though I will amend this by saying that she probably lightened up when she realized she wasn't on Azeroth any more--she doesn't paint every human with the same brush, and figures it very likely that no one here even has a clue about Azeroth. Therefore they don't deserve to be blamed.

Katsura has a high sense of honor, even though it's of a a personal flavor. She also favors the underdog a great deal. Countless times in her adventures back home, she'd come upon a person fighting for their life, and it didn't much matter to her if they were Horde or Alliance, she tended to shoot first and ask questions later.

By no means is she swift to form personal connections--after the death of her family it took Blackword years to get as close as he now is, and it's not likely that she is too close to anyone else save her other guildmates. The only family Kat has left is her pets, and if she can get away with it, one is always close to her.

If necessary, she's willing to be cruel to be kind--tough in the classroom, less so outside. As a weaponsmaster in her chosen field, Kat views her job as being one of prevention--after all, if her students know what they're doing, they're less likely to make mistakes in the field and more likely to make it home. Tough, but fair.

What are your plans for the character in-game? Kat would love to just go home, of course, but since that doesn't seem to be feasible she's going to make the most of it. These kids need teaching, she's damn good at what she does, and she's going to drill it into her students' heads even if it kills her--or maybe them.

Anything else? Hunters are able to have a stable full of twenty-five pets. To save everyone's sanity, including my own, she's going to have five she keeps on her, and one junctioned as a GF, the aforementioned devilsaur.. The other five are her monkey, her fox, her shale spider, her scorpid, and her owl.

IC

Complete TWO out of the FOUR options.

What do you prefer to be known as? Katsura. Kat if you're in a hurry.

How old are you? 160ish? They didn't keep very good records where I'm from. Chalk it up to the city being razed by a rampaging undead horde.

Do you have any history in combat? Yes, but let's note it's usually ranged. Sniping. I can melee if I have to, but I don't prefer it, and plucking claws out of my mail is no fun later.

If so, have you ever killed? Yes. When I had to. I don't find murder fun.

i) How do you feel when you get involved in some project that calls for immediate and rapid activity? Energized. I'm good at rapid activity.

ii) Do you organize and initiate leisure activities? I do. I surprised a lot of my old comrades by being involved in holiday festivities.

iii) What role do you take when working in a group? Reconnaissance, usually. Point man. Sniper.

iv) How talkative are you around other people? As talkative as I need to be to get my point across.

v) What three things would you want to have with you on a desert island? State your reasoning. A knife, my bow, and a pot. With those three things I can eat, get water, make arrows, and eventually build a raft to get myself off the island.

vi) Is it important to be liked by a wide range of people? Not particularly. I prefer being effective.

vii) When the odds are against you, is it worth taking a chance? Yes. If there's any chance of survival--take it.

viii) Do you consider yourself to be an impulsive person? Sometimes. Isn't everyone?

ix) Would you agree that planning things ahead takes the fun out of life? Depends. Having a plan is good, but plans can always be subject to change. Being inflexible only tends to get you broken, after all.

x) Do you like surprises? Sometimes. I like kittens.

xi) Do you sometimes wonder if there is something wrong with you? No. Should I?

xii) Do you consider yourself to be smarter than your superiors, and disagree with their decisions? I figure they got there because of their knowledge and experience. If I was meant to be there I would be. Though if something seems...really boneheaded, I'm not the type to let that pass unchallenged.

xiii) Lastly, how do you feel about cabbages? Ugh. I'd rather eat a ravager dog.
